Objective

See how far you can hit the egg

Controls

  1. Press SPACE to drop the egg
  2. Press SPACE to swing the baguette
  3.  Hold SPACE to fast forward time (the egg starts in slow mo)

The SPACE key is also used to start and restart the game

Main features (so far)

  • Use of a physics engine
  • A camera that tracks an object's movement
  • Ability to fast forward time
  • Tying the sounds and animations to collisions and the anticipation of collisions
  • The volume of the music changes based on the distance to the sea

Development Details

This game was made using Construct 3 and it was made for round 6 out of 7 in the GDKO 2022 game jam where the task was to create a one button game with the theme: Audio

I had a lot of fun playing this! The scene you created made me want to explore all the different parts and try to interact with as much as I could, and I really like the illustrations. I managed to crack the egg on the fin! And I knocked off the fisherman's hat many times in the process :)

Also, I don't know if it's intentional but I like that the "fin" is the "final" item :)

lol, I didn't think about the fin being the final thing when creating it but that is a nice coincidence :) I originally intended it to be a shark with an open mouth but I couldn't draw it right so went with the easy option in the end. I was also going to add an island after but I think it's impossible to get past the shark fin

I really dig how the elements react when being hit by the egg, really made me want to try to hit everything just to see what happens, score was just secondary.

Huehuehue this was so fun! I love the particle effects, the unique sounds and the stories that somehow developed because of "egg":

I call this: "Naturally"

Natural

and then "love at egg sight"

and my favourite: "a typical day in school"

Amazing story telling! Also, couldn't make it past the crab with my egg tossing...

Lol, I like the pics you got and how you got the egg to balance on his head is really cool. Yeah it is very tricky to get past the crab but you've done really well to get to that area as I thought that most people would get stuck on the umbrella. Your best bet to get past the crab is if you let the egg bounce 2 times before hitting it and then hope it lands somewhere between the crab and fisherman for it to bounce high enough. It would probably take many attempts to get it right but if you do there is a few more things in the sea to hit, with the shark being the last thing

Oh wow! I never thought to let the egg bounce hehe thanks for the hint!
A shark you say? Will definitely have to look for that!

I kept playing it over and over just knowing I'd figure out the sweet spot. That C3 physics system can be tricky sometimes. But you did a great job with it. The little details are what make this one so fun. Hitting the objects on the beach and the different sounds you get from EVERYHTING in the game. Great job!
